Looking For Tutor Time?

Looking For Tutor Time?Tutor time in the Northwest has become more affordable for many students in recent years. Student opportunities in the Portland area of the state have improved greatly in recent years and there are a number of charter schools in the region. If you are interested in applying to any of these schools, you may want to consult with your guidance counselor. Most of the opportunities are fixed.A tutor's schedule is usually planned around their own needs. They will go to the school you are interested in and then take an average of two hours for study. It can be very flexible. Generally, a tutor will come to you in one day, on one or two days, a week, or up to two weeks. It depends on the tutor, and also whether they will need to work or not.Sometimes, it is easier for tutors to tutor someone who cannot do much studying on their own. If your child will be unable to work, as in the case of a student with special needs, the school may only require a half hour each day to be able to work. This would give them two hours per week to fit into their schedule. In most cases, this is preferable.The principal need not get involved and the children are left to their own devices. However, if they are working at home with the help of a parent, then you should ensure that they are getting enough help. If the child needs extra help, you will be happy to pay extra for it.You should feel free to arrange a tutor for as little or as much time as you like. If you want to continue working at home after you leave your child at school, then you can arrange for a tutor to come by on weekends or evenings. These schools will need to pay their staff and do all the work for them. But if you are still able to work, you should arrange some time for a tutor to visit you on a regular basis. Although they will be doing most of the work, it is worth arranging a lot of time with them as it will give them a chance to see what you are going through.Because they may need to come to yo ur home on a number of occasions, you should arrange your own timetable. Usually, they will come to you at specified times, but at a minimum you should arrange three visits per week, so that it gives them a chance to see what you are doing. It will also help to arrange to see them when they will be leaving work, because it will save you having to call them at work.However, you should check with the tutor about their timetable. This will allow you to make sure that you can continue doing your work and their tasks will not interfere with yours. As long as you are keen about getting the job done, you will be happy with the arrangement.

4 Necessary Skills for Guitar Improvisation

4 Necessary Skills for Guitar Improvisation Suzy S. For many guitarists, learning to jam with others (or along with the radio or a certain song) is a top request when beginning guitar lessons.   But if youre feeling stuck, youre not alone.   It might just be time to take a step back. Weve discussed tips before to help jazz up your improvised solos, but theres even more preparation that can be done to help with your overall skillset when it comes to this technique particularly for guitar players.   Before you start showing off, consider the behind-the-scenes work that should get its due time. These suggestions from Ultimate-Guitar.com will help you get even better at guitar improvisation: 1. Thorough knowledge of music theory. Why? When theres a chord playing, you need to know which notes sound good over the chord and which ones dont. You need to know which scales you can play over the chords, chord theory to construct your own chords and inversions as you are playing, modal theory so you can open up hundreds of new scale options, intervals, inversions, and much, much more.   Knowing music theory massively expands your options. 2. Memorizing the fretboard. Why? When you know which notes you can play over which chords, the next step is knowing where they are on the guitar so you can instantly find them. This will make guitar playing easier for you if you can see the fretboard clearly as you are playing. If you cant, then its a lot like driving along a road youve never been on before, in pitch black darkness, without a map. 3. Mastery of phrasing. Why? Guitar playing is like a conversation. You need to be able to phrase your licks in such a way that is interesting and doesnt ramble on forever. Phrasing means targeting the right chord tones at the right time, “speaking” with your guitar, spacing your licks and using various techniques. 4. Understanding the basic 7 elements of music. Why? When you understand rhythm, harmony, melody, dynamics, texture, timbre and form, it becomes much easier to improvise a guitar solo and create an interesting sound in real time while playing. You can sense when there is an imbalance in the music, and try to correct it so that you and the listener can enjoy the music more. Of course, working with a guitar instructor can give you even more hands-on tips if youre struggling with specific techniques.   Search for a guitar instructor near you here. How to Motivate and Engage Students in Learning

How to Motivate and Engage Students in Learning 0SHARESShare Lots of academic institutions and educators work to motivate students not only to improve the test scores but intend to retain students in the same institution. There is not a single theory that increases student’s motivation. It is the strategy laid down for the students to create a desire to learn the topic with interest, enjoyment, and self-fulfillment and thus achieve mastery in the subject. Here are the strategies implemented by several academic institutions which showed great results: Make classroom live with learning activities that connect the subject with student’s culture, interest, social lives and current happenings and events. Offer choices and options to the students when they feel monotonous learning. Let them have their own voice by allowing them to choose a lab partner or selecting alternative assignments. Be supportive by encouraging the students by listening to their questions and showing empathy being responsive to them. Create challenges for students to master the subject. Give small opportunities where they discover the fact of having capabilities to succeed. Especially this works well with students who lack confidence. Balance the challenge for students to maintain the zeal and expectations from the  online tutor. Too easy task may create boredom communicating a message of low expectation where the tutor is unaware of a student’s capabilities. Difficult task may create anxiety in the student. Help to develop strategy for students who are struggling with poor academic scores resulting in lack of confidence. Make them learn about how to learn. Spend some time to discuss and review what was learned and how the student will undergo more practice. Develop and achieve short-term goals to come closer to develop long term goals. Online tutoring  serves the best keeping students engaged and highly motivated with strategic planning. [starbox id=admin]

Area of Equilateral Triangle

Area of Equilateral Triangle A triangle is a geometric shape which has 3 sides. An equilateral triangle is a triangle which has all the 3 sides equal to each other. Sum of the angles in a triangle add upto 180, and in an equilateral triangle since all the sides are equal to each other, their angles are also equal. Area of an equilateral triangle is the region covered inside the triangle bounded by the sides. Example 1: Calculate the area of the triangle which has side lengths as 5m, 5m, and 5m. Given the sides of the triangle: 5m, 5m, 5m All the three sides of the triangle are equal to each other, hence it is an equilateral triangle. Area of the equilateral triangle, A = 3/4 * s2 where s = side length The length of the side, s = 5m Area of the equilateral triangle, A =3/4 * (5)2 A = 3/4 * 25 = 10.8m2 Hence area of the equilateral triangle, A = 10.8m2 Example 2: Calculate the area of the equilateral triangle which has the length of the side equal to 8m. Since its an equilateral triangle, all the sides are equal to each other. Area of the equilateral triangle, A = 3/4 * s2 where s = side length Given the side length of the equilateral triangle, s = 8m Area of the equilateral triangle, A =3/4 * (8)2 A = 3/4 * 64 = 3 * 16m2 Hence area of the equilateral triangle, A = 27.7m2

How To Evaluate Expressions

How To Evaluate Expressions We know Evaluation means simplifying an expression to a single numerical value. We know expression is a combination of variables, numbers and operations like addition, subtraction, etc. If an expression 3x + 6 + 9 x is there, we can write this as 2x + 15. This kind of transformation is called simplification of algebraic expressions. To simplify an expression, we need to write the equal degree terms at one place. Then we can add or subtract or simplify those terms. We know Radical expression of both variables and numbers inside a way. Example: Simplify square root of (169x^8y^4z^6) Solution:The given expression is (169x^8y^4z^6) We can write this as individually = Square root of [(13^2) (x^4) ^2 (z^3) ^2 Here, we can cancel the square and square root = 13 x^4 z^3 So, the final solution of the given expression is = 13 x^4 z^3. Example: it says; for x = - 3, Evaluate the value of the expression 6x^3 5 x^2 + 7x + 100. Solution:To find the value of the expression for x = -3, We can let f (x) = 6x^3 5 x^2 + 7x + 100 Now we can plug the value 3 in the place of x, then we have f (- 3) = 6(-3)^3 5 (-3)^2 + 7(-3) +100 = 6 (- 27) 5 (9) 21 +100 = - 162 45 21 + 100 = - 128

Why You Must Stick to 650 Words in Your Personal Statement

Why You Must Stick to 650 Words in Your Personal Statement ACT SAT Prep and College Admissions Blog The Common Application sets a 250-650 word limit for the length of your personal statement. It may feel like it’s impossible to say everything you need to say about yourself in 650 words or less, but complying with this rule is about more than just word counting. It’s a life lesson. Disregarding the instructed word limit could come across as indicative of a lack of attention to detail and an inability to follow instructions. This will not be the last time in your life that someone will ask you to follow specific instructions. Doing it your way, even if you believe it’s “better that way,” might seem like the right thing to do, but it can also connote disrespect for the person asking. When you submit an application, you have not yet earned the trust to discount the rules set by people who control whether or not you are admitted to the school (or job). The unintended subtext becomes, “I think I know better than you.” It tells admissions committees that you don’t respect the effort they are going to put into reading your essay, as well as that of your fellow applicants, because you’re demanding extra time and attention. Not following the set guideline is handing the admissions counselors a reason to eliminate you from consideration. With so many applicants, dismissing someone who didn’t follow instructions is an easy way to pare down the pile of applications so they can devote more attention to the people who did. Being limited to 650 words also requires that you be more discerning with which details you include in your essay. It can help you focus and sharpen your writing. How can you express the essence of your story in fewer words? Again, this is a skill that will serve you in all aspects of your life. Being able to convey your points concisely will help readers or listeners stay focused on your message without getting bored or distracted by rambling prose. Write a long first draft. Include every possible detail that you might want to use to enhance your personal statement. Then cut anything that digresses rather than contributes to the plot or theme. Ask yourself if each word, thought, or anecdote is necessary. If so, how can you express it in the most economical way possible? I recommend Ray Bradbury short stories as a fantastic example of this kind of writing. He was able to convey an incredible amount of humanity and character despite the brevity of his stories and sentences. Adverbs are a good place to start with edits. Instead of using a verb and adverb combination, find a more specific verb so the adverb is unnecessary â€" “Shouted” instead of “said angrily.” Challenge yourself to make better word choices. Use your thesaurus and your dictionary. Make sure the words you use actually mean what you think they mean. Check for repeated words and use synonyms so your writing isn’t repetitive. Cut any words that are implied by context â€" “suddenly,” “it seemed,” etc. Cut clichés. You’re trying to stand out, and you won’t if you use tired phrases as a shortcut to conveying your point. Play with sentence structure. Use active voice rather than passive whenever possible to make your writing more dynamic and to eliminate extra words. Read your essay out loud to find points where the narrative drags or phrasing is awkward. Take some time to think about the impression of yourself you want to leave with this personal statement. It’s your best chance to inject some personality into your application, so choose your words wisely. hbspt.cta._relativeUrls=true;hbspt.cta.load(215486, '6baac2ae-05a3-4610-9d1f-265c8cbd809f', {});
